If Frozen were to make a crossover film the most obvious choice to crossover with would be "Tangled." The 2010 animated film about Rapunzel pleasantly surprised me. My first thoughts about the film through previews were that it was a kid’s movie just trying to be a moneymaker. However, I had no idea the film was being made by Disney Animated Studios. I decided to watch the film with my sisters one night and when it finished I was left completely shocked at how great it was. That was probably the first time I felt so happy after watching an animated film since Shrek (or Tarzan, the last Disney Animated film to make me feel so happy). Tangled was very funny and I loved the usual Disney twist on a classic fairy tale which had not been seen since the "Disney Renaissance."
Frozen and Tangled were two very similar but different films. Both films had heroines who not only looked alike, but also were similar in personalities. Anna and Rapunzel were both trapped and kept away from society for many years. They both seem to be awkward at moments and almost too excited at other moments since they were isolated from society for so long. However Frozen has two heroines, Elsa seems to have a different personality from Anna and Rapunzel. Elsa does however possess powers like Rapunzel. Eugene/Flynn and Kristoff are both similar characters in a different sense. Eugene did not feel like he was a part of society so he built himself a new identity. Kristoff could not keep up with his society and found himself raised by trolls. Both seem to be in the right place at the same time, which ends up affecting both of their destinies. Sven and Maximus are almost the same characters in each film. Both provide comic relief even though neither can speak and both a good relationship with either Kristoff or Eugene. Lastly the classic Disney near-death experience was in both films, which brings out the sadness in all of us. Rapunzel's tears heal Eugene's wound and Love melts a Frozen heart.
So what are some possible routes where Disney could go if a crossover were to be made? Let's begin by searching the origin story of Rapunzel. In the original story of Rapunzel, she does become pregnant with twins. After Mother Gothel discovers the truth about Rapunzel and the prince seeing each other, she cuts her hair off and banishes her into the woods. She eventually finds sanctuary and gives birth to a boy and a girl. This is a start for a crossover; Rapunzel and Eugene can have twins and find themselves caught up in the plot. However, The Snow Queen story is completely different from Frozen, so there is not much the origin story can give us. There is a possibility that Elsa could become a villain, it was the original idea for Frozen!
So how are the two films connected in the first place? There is a very popular theory connecting the two together. The theory is near the end of Tangled, Flynn tells Rapunzel that he has heard Arendelle is nice this time of year (this is in a special edition, I have only seen pictures but no actual clips). In Frozen, during the song "For the First Time in Forever," Flynn and Rapunzel can be seen outside right after the gates are opened and Anna comes out of them. So when Rapunzel is found and becomes married, that would be cause for other royals to come to the wedding. In Frozen, the King and Queen were leaving for Rapunzel's wedding. The reason why Flynn and Rapunzel are at Elsa's coronation is because they knew why Anna and Elsa's parents were dead. They felt guilty because it was indirectly their fault the princesses of Arendelle were orphans. To make things crazier, Tangled came out in November 2010 and Frozen came out November of 2013. That's 3 years apart, the same amount of time it was between the King and Queen's death and Elsa's coronation!
Another theory includes an Rapunzel, Elsa and Anna all being blood-related. Both queens in Tangled and Frozen have many similar facial features and many people claim they are sisters. This would make Rapunzel, Elsa and Anna first cousins. The problem with this theory is if they are all related, how come the three didn't speak to each other in Frozen? Or even mention each other? This could potentially be a complicated plot, but Disney has surprised us before.
So how can the two become tangled (pun intended) in the same Universe? When Rapunzel gives birth to her twins, other royals would come to visit and celebrate. That obviously cannot be enough for an entire story. One other plot that I have thought of myself is that there is some trouble in Arendelle. Elsa is the queen, but who is the king? Also who is next in line? Anna and Elsa's parents clearly prepared Elsa better to take the throne. Anna would also make a very awkward queen and Kristoff would not be very fit to be a king (the dude makes ice!) So, Anna and Kristoff decide to get married, but there is a ruling saying Elsa must marry before her sister in order to keep the throne! Elsa would obviously get pretty desperate here and also gives Elsa a chance to find a loved one, which she could not find in Frozen. I think it would be funny to see her try and date many guys and see how her powers act up, she has never been in those situations so she wouldn't know what to do. Many people want her love interest to be Jack Frost. Personally I disagree with that. I believe that she should find a love interest with the power of fire (opposites attract right.) However he is the antagonist adding a twist to things and he received his powers from a drop of sunlight giving him the firepower of the sun! This would make a very good storyline for a Frozen 2 more than a Frozen/Tangled crossover.
Could this all happen? I'm hoping there is a chance it all could. A chance to crossover two Disney animated films could be too good to pass up and the chance to do it is now. Now Disney just needs to put all the pieces together. "For the First Time I See the Light!"

P.S. Give Jonathan Groff more singing time! I was disappointed he sang for only one minute of the film.
